The follow up from the 8th WWC in Alaska is almost complete. Numerous publications will come out this year and everyone will be notified...the titles will include The handbook of International Wilderness Law and Policy; the plenary proceedings; the proceedings of the technical sessions; etc.

As announced at the 8th WWC, there is considerable potential and rationale for convening the 9th WWC in Latin America, for the first time.  As a result, consultations are underway with our colleagues in numerous countries in the region.  No decisions have been made yet, but we are hopeful that a decision is forthcoming in the next six months that will confirm this for 2009.

Pls post any questions or comments, or if you have any ideas about the 9th WC.    Thanks!

This is my first posting on the site, so in part I am just confirming that it works.    However,  I do look forward to information about a possible Congress in Latin America in 2009.    That year will be the 100th Anniversay of the park I manage...Quetico in Ontario, Canada.  Quetico, and its US counterpart Superior National Forest (BWCA) were among the first defined "wilderness areas" and both celebrate their centennial in 2009.
