I have just finished reading your book and I have to admit that it was book of my great interest!!
It helped me clarify several important issues, which are important for my everyday work, for example:
a.. position and place of PAN Parks in global context of wilderness protection
b.. position and importance of PAN Parks particularly in protection of Europe's wilderness
c.. wilderness concept versus restoration
d.. iconic value of term wilderness, etc There are many issues still resonated in my mind but the most compulsive is issue of the term / word 'wilderness'. I am very sure that you have to face this issue already for years but in my case this is issue of great importance because we are now in the process of identifying steps and strategies how to make PAN Parks quality label for Europe's wilderness.
Reading your book I realise how diverse is interpretation of this term globally and particularly here in Europe [from IUCN category I b - wilderness to wilderness reserves as defined e.g. in Finland - IUCN category VI].
Learning about wide diversity how wilderness can be interpreted I started to be a little bit more concerned about several aspects and elements of our ambition which I wasn't aware before.
Finally, I would like to express again my appreciation and send you cordial congratulations and admiration to your afford to put together this important book.
Best regards, Vlado
